Fade to color. Performance

In a material, if I make it so that the Normal or Diffuse texture fades to a certain value, will I see any performance improvement?

The moss material in Starter Content has a normal map that fades to blue when the pixel is far enough. That is what I’m talking about.

Nope, there is no benefit from that. Performance will be the same. Starter content fade to flat normal was most likely done to reduce noise in the scene.
