I don’t understand why my 4k textures are showing up as 1k on the Fab viewer.
I reload the 4k ones and, magic, it goes back to 1k.
I also looked at the fbx which is used for conversion to usd, the problem is also present.
I checked my fbx, it does contain 4k maps.
If the quality of my model looks bad, no one will buy it.
I think it’s because of model theft, but that affects us much faster than piracy.
Please enlighten us.

when importing the fbx into the viewer my maps go to 1k
They have always compressed textures for the 3D viewer, same as Sketchfab. I’ve seen people upload projects with 1GB of textures in high resolution. If average user opened it, their browser would freeze and crash.
Either compress it yourself or upload 2K textures. Nobody will see a difference on such a small object.
There’s an issue on our end we’re working at the moment on fixing it : By default in your case, it should load a 2k texture not a 1k. We do this for optimization purposes.
There is also an option in the viewer option’s menu where you can toggle on “HD Textures” to load the maximum resolution available (4k in your case). However this setting is not persisted when you reload the viewer, we’ll be adding this feature in the next days.
