I’m going to be brutally honest here, Fab needed at least six months more work at minimum. The fact that it’s missing so many vital features across the multiple storefronts it was combining is inexcusable, nevermind the lackluster performance. Seriously, why anyone think wishlisting and reviews weren’t essential features for 1.0?
It’s a continuation of Epic having a bad habit of releasing products in a woefully underbaked state - Unreal Engine 5.0 (UE5 has gotten better since then but Epic has been too slow to address issues of shader compilation stutter, traversal stutter and limited multithreading that commonly plague Unreal Engine games), the Epic Games Store (still frankly a worthless pile of junk by PC storefront standards, which is the main reason why it’s still unable to meaningfully compete with Steam) and now this. Nevermind this is another instance of releasing a product that’s woefully lacking compared to other similar products out there as well (including the very storefronts it’s supposed to be replacing!). Not dealing with Sketchfab’s copyright issues right off the bat before release wasn’t a good look, either.
Honestly, if everything reverted back to how it was pre-Fab it would be better for everyone involved.
