Export Localization doesn't create new entries

Summary

I noticed this problem after adding new billboards to my map. Localization doesn’t work, but to be specific it seems the export part doesn’t work. Colleagues who are working with me also tried and failed. When I browse localization files which are available, the update date doesn’t change after export. And new things that should be localized are not there.

My map also is under K-POP Demon hunter scheme (I am not sure if this could be the cause).

Month ago it was working fine, I also use localized messages in various places like verse and other devices than billboards.

Island Settings

Steps to Reproduce

  • have a map with text to localize
  • Build → EXPORT Localization
  • Build → Build Auto Localization
  • map doesn’t have translated text

Expected Result

I would expect ‘export localization’ to work properly, as doing it by hand might cause me trouble. And it’s impossible to do verse localization by hand.

Observed Result

The localization export does not update the files (timestamps stay the same).

New localized strings are missing from the exported data.

Localization that worked before (e.g. Verse messages, device text) remains but new entries are not exported.

Issue persists across multiple team members and persists after restarting UEFN.

Project uses the K-POP Demon Hunter scheme (possible link to theme or asset set).

Hi,

This sounds like this issue that was previously reported?

If so, this will be fixed for 38.00, and reportedly the workaround is to delete the existing files so that URC is forced to think they’ve changed on-disk.

Thanks.

@Jamie_Dale As you said removing “Localization” folder indeed solved this issue.

Thank you and sorry I did not find anything on this topic while searching.
