Hi Unreal Engine community,
I have some questions regarding the UE5 water plugin and its experimental status.
We are a small developer team, using the experimental water plugin at the moment. For our purposes, it is working just fine and even in the experimental status, it has the features we need.
Now, Epic states for experimental features:
“Please keep in mind that we do not guarantee backward compatibility for assets created at the experimental stage, the APIs for these features are subject to change, and we may remove entire Experimental features or specific functionality at our discretion.”
We are wondering what this exactly means for us, especially since we want to release our game commercially one day:
In case Epic removes the water plugin. What would that mean? You could still have duplicates of the water materials or water bodies lying around locally. Would you be prohibited from using them at all? Or is Epic only removing further support and development of those?
Thank you in advance!
