Exclude light on environnements but not on characters

Hi i’m new to unreal and videogame industry.
I wanted to know if there is a way to exclude a light on the levels and make a light following the characters to give them a rim light at all times.
We use this technique a lot when we are doing Commercials, TV series and Movies
So i would like to have a rim light with shadows on the character but not on the environnement.

Is it possible?

It’s not possible because of deferred rendering. You could work out a fake rim light using a fresnel node and emissive in the material.
