would it be this 2nd file seen here?
Go into the control panel, look for folder options and then look for an option to “hide known file extensions”. Please uncheck it and look again.
But it looks like you have the .ini in there.
Have you tried reinstalling? If yes, add the log commands from below into that file and submit the logs to the devs.
ok, that was the DefaultEngine.ini file, & this is what was in it:
[Configuration]
BasedOn=…\Engine\Config\BaseEngine.ini
[Core.Log]
LogHttp=warning
LogOnline=warning
[HTTP]
HttpTimeout=360
HttpConnectionTimeout=200
HttpReceiveTimeout=200
HttpSendTimeout=200
[OnlineSubsystem]
DefaultPlatformService=MCP
[OnlineSubsystemMcp]
bEnabled=true
[OnlineSubsystemMcp.OnlineIdentityMcp]
bAllowMultiLogin=true
VerifyTokenInterval=300.0
So, you want me to take this copied text above & put it in a new file with the same name & overwrite the old 1, & that will fix it & make it launchable somehow?
No, you already have the file, just add this to the file:
- [Core.Log]
- LogHttp=log
- LogOnline=verbose
then follow the directions below:
“After making those changes, the next time you receive this error, can you exit the application and zip up all of the logs (c:\users\YOUR_USER\appdata\local\unrealenginelauncher\saved\logs) and post them here? Additionally, it would help to know if you’re currently using a proxy server, or are otherwise in a location where you have to log-in to access the internet. Thanks!”
sorry i’m still learning all this stuff obviously but as for a proxy none that i know of, & no i don’t have to log in to access the net, this is my personal computer & it’s always connected, thirdly, should i replace "warning"s with “log” & “verbose” or just add all 3 lines you posted as a new part of the file, & here is the screenshot of the logs & a zip[link text][1]:
so i tried adding the log & verbose lines you posted. I tried just adding your 3 lines, as well as completely replacing the ‘warning’ lines I had with what you posted instead, & either way, i’m still not able to get it to launch, so I’m guessing my only option now is to cancel my subscription & find a different game engine altogether, & lose the $19 I wasted on a program that doesn’t work.
Hi nocturna76,
We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. Obviously it has occurred for other users in the past, though they mostly seem to have been able to resolve it by restarting the launcher and trying again. We would like to identify the reason that this is still ongoing for you. Thank you for the logs, we will take a look and see if they can help to shed some light on the situation.
We would like to try to work through this issue with you, and get you up and running with UE4. But of course if you would like to cancel or discuss your options, you are always welcome to contact our accounts and billing department.
Cheers
So I have tried everything that has been reccomended here, have changed my firewall, my timeout times, and i am not on a proxy and if i see another post saying to bundle log files i am going to put a screwdriver through my eye, we all are having the same problem , and yet no solution, i have had this program for five days now , five days… still nothing , no response, i am no master coder or anything just a guy that expected a program that is industry standard and rather high end to work when i needed it too, i need a quick and easy fix to this so that i can finally start making a game and learning the program. i have the same problem, no version info , goes to log in screen and asks if i am connected to the internet …
Hi Jodamsu,
We’re very sorry that you are having these troubles. We are still investigating the cause of this for the few users who experience this problem. We may be in touch for additional information.
In the meantime, while the Launcher is not cooperating, you my wish to consider using the source code version of the editor which is downloaded via GitHub. It is a more involved setup process, but it can probably get you started. More information is available here: - YouTube
Thanks.
Hi There, I just started the engine and I receive the same problems. If you want I can give you team viewer acces and you can test on my PC. just let me know.
Same here… before I was getting the version error, now I get the 2nd error as well asking if I’m connected to the internet. Well… I’m fairly certain I am. Unless this post made its way online through sheer force of will.
@Wobbleyheadedbob and @Ion Cocarcea,
Very sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue as well. You have tried restarting the Launcher, and the problem still persists?
No proxy? Firewall disabled? And you have tried disabling your antivirus software?
Please take a look at this page under the “Unable to Download Content” section.

Try the various solutions, and if none of them resolve the issue for you, please follow the steps listed there to provide your logs, and attach them here.
Thank you
I tried the solution and nothing was working but I managed to use it in offline mode. Fired it up again later the next evening and all was fine, the launcher seems to have updated now.
No problems since then.
(PS: Thanks for responding!)
I started the launcher in the next day and all is fine after update.
Awesome! There must have been some network hiccup, but I am glad it did not last long for either of you.
Cheers!
I’m getting the same thing in my logs: HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable: Back-end server is at capacity
Also, same as you, none of the suggestions work.
Same as ECXevian: HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable: Back-end server is at capacity
None of the suggestions work, even DNS change…
Need back up here, i bought Engine today
UPDATE: it started working just of now! N-I-C-E-!
Just pinging the staff in hopes that will get this issue solved as quickly as possible.
The Launcher error comes because of 503: Service unavailable on servers end. See below for recent comments.
Please get this fixed! Subscribed today for the first time, this is really not a good way to impress new customers, hehe.
Having my hopes high for quick resolve! Cheers!
Also just confirmed identical error on Mac so it’s not platform based.
same here since today.
