Epic, I am a Unreal user since UEd 3 back in 2003, and have to say you are really good in improving the Unreal Engine, but nothing else.
Please take no offense, but I experienced you messing up even the forum upgrade some years ago, where half of the picture attachments were lost forever. The launcher has been a PITA ever since the introduction and there would be more examples outside of core UE topics.
Now regarding the forced switch to FAB: you developed this for about 2 years? and I dont want to even start bringing up all the issues that were found already, will be found, and basic stuff missing (gosh, we dont even get a number from a search result 10, 100, 1000?), and issues that may never be solved because of the underlying problems to bring those different assets together.
So please give us the old separate marketplaces back those were much better each alone, separated:
If you want Unreal content optimised, checked, working and with feedback from the community or buyers go to the Unreal Marketplace!
If you want free or cheap models in all kinds of formats that you might have to check and modify for yourself, go to Sketchfab
similar to the other marketplaces.
Now keeping both the Unreal marketplace and FAB alive and syncing both up would probably also be a nightmare. Having only FAB and see you trying and failing (after that long development time) with it is no alternative either.
So just admit it did not work out and will not work out to combine all those different purpose marketplace with different purpose content, non-standards, non-quality control and so into one.
Give us the different old marketplaces back, don’t waste any more time.
I do not know what caused Epic to think changing the marketplace to FAB at the end of October was a good idea. I rely on the small income I get from a handful of sales on the marketplace from my small number of assets as my main income… I haven’t sold a single thing since the change over. Basically Epic stopped me earning anything during a time when sales usually pick up in time for the holiday. I love Epic (as a tech artist that loves graphics), they do incredible things but they also do not reply very often or do not seem to improve things while telling us, they are improving things.
I’ve been feeling this, wondering, as well.
I haven’t had any sales since FAB either.
Sales were coming in somewhat regularly before FAB.
I see someone on here who can’t make purchases: Nonsense by FAB
Possibly relevant.
Personally I find FAB a bit overhwhelming and underperforming.
Speed feels faster.
Features are gone.
Visual overload increased. (Epic’s designs including Fortnite I find lack visual distinction between elements, while presenting the user with large amounts of data. A lot of data which I find unnecessary. While not emphasizing key navigation points.)
Epic are giving us fee free sales until the end of 2024… but if I did not sell anything (and still have not) then it only hurts my pocket and not Epics.
I am very greatful to whoever purchases one of my packs. I have worked incredibly hard to do my best.
However, I certainly feel that this move to FAB was done at the wrong time of year and with very little consideration or even consultation with any sellers (I never was contacted by Epic for feedback).
As I said, it is my main source of income so I am certainly going to feel this holiday season. Just not in a good way.
I can air my issues on here but Epic do not seem to be bothered about any of it. Some mention of them working on the issues would help.
I’m sure it was timed so it could be announced at events. Technically they made sure they’re not getting anything from FAB for the holidays either. Maybe people are doing a lot of browsing right now, taking in what’s new.
Well I’ve purchased your brush pack and I’d like to say I wishlisted the other one but… added it to a list of sorts. Hopefully the snowball grows.
Hey @3dev! A list of known issues that we are working on can be found here. Also, the sales reports update once a day, so if something was purchased today, it would show up tomorrow. I hope that helps!
If anyone would like to provide feedback regarding Fab, you can use the Feedback & Requests section of the Fab forums. If you run into any bugs or issues, please feel free to let us know here also.
