Is there an upper limit to the gameplay time?
We’re going to kill
man, magic sword is amazing! Its inspiring my whole idea
Just for making sure, using Magic Sword will mean NO for “All original assets (yes / no)”, right?
I would still put yes if you made everything but the sounds, but that’s just me.
My previous jams seemed really dry without any music, and there’s no way I could build some music for a jam in a few days. I’ll note it either way in the submission. Thanks!
I’m not sure I understand the theme… I understand what the phrase means but I don’t understand how it can relate to game design in any way other than maybe making your story about it… but really what story doesn’t have those themes.
Sorry I just don’t really understand how to use this lol other than going literal…
Some potential inspiration for those struggling with the theme:

Hello
Is there a place to find details of the THEME: STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS?
I missed the live stream.
Thanks
They don’t give details how to interpret the theme on stream, it’s up to you. However if you search the theme with google, you’ll find that pretty much every source explains the metaphor behind it:

If you use assets you didn’t make, it’s not all original. I think already replied earlier that it’s kinda binary so if you didn’t make all, it would mean no.
Like discussion before pointed, there are lots of gray areas there. I’d personally see it better if people could just mark originality per asset type:
All original models (yes/no)
All original textures (yes/no)
All original particle (yes/no)
All original music (yes/no)
All original sound effect (yes/no)
or just even pointing out with short description how you’ve built the assets for the jam if it’s built on top of something existing (btw. this approach would fit the theme, wink wink). If assets are completely made by someone else, answer should be pretty clear.
Rules say no logo or any trademark on the game. That includes the .exe ico and the “Powered by unreal” video before game starts?
Finally got an idea, going to be streaming at some point now at ://.twitch.tv/bohriumdev
You can enter and participate anytime before next Thursday (the 15th) at 3pm EST. That’s when it’s over. It’s totally open for anyone to join at any time before it’s over.
Handled!
Checked for you, all good friend!
Thanks! And am I still responsible for goods or something?
I think you could consider any asset that took any decent amount of time original. I mean if you used a base character mesh in zbrush but then spent 30 hours working on it, then it really is original in my mind, I would really only consider plug n play style assets as non original. This debate can be said about any level production from concept to using photos in textures. I think we all as a whole understand what they mean getting to technical ruins the fun.
read the new forum thread created for the entries, do you really want 261+ PMs with all that info?
maybe just post the team names after the winners are announced and just ask the winners to send their information instead.
(can the forum’s inbox even handle 250+ PMs?)
btw… great idea you 2, where do you ever come up with these ideas, good to know the MegaJam is being Handled so well, pure genius!
Even though game jams shouldn’t be about prizes, but about learning and having a good time… those are some pretty sweet prizes you got there!
I can’t help but wonder how the raffling will work exactly. For the SpeedTree awards, you specifically mention that they are given away per team, not per team member. Does this also apply for the other awards, or will those be given away per member? In other words, do larger teams as a whole have a higher of winning something?
(No worries, this won’t affect my actual team size. I’m mostly just curious. )
