Epic MegaJam! Oct. 6-13th, 2016

I’m guessing the packaged build becomes their property, but certainly not the IP correct?

that rule has been in place since they put the rules in due to legality of copyrights.

it does relinquish a lot of rights to Epic but I’ve never seen them abuse it.
it basically means they can show it on the Twitch Stream & publicize it however they want to, such as shows, conventions, videos etc. without worrying about copyright infringement or being sued basically.

as I said above I’ve never seen them abuse it in any form it’s mainly to protect themselves.
what you make is subject to public exposure so if you’re that worried about it then don’t use it or don’t participate, it’s up to you.

The way that’s phrased is ambiguous, and could be interpreted that they do get ownership of the IP, since it constitutes part of the entry.

This clause hasn’t been in previous jams, and it isn’t normal. It normally says something like this:

Hey, I have removed the offending line. It was supposed to convey that the sponsors would not be “taking” the entry from you, but you are letting them “own” the submitted copy.

It wasn’t necessary and has been removed now in the updated rules. Let me know if anything else is not clear or sounds ambiguous, I’m to help.

We really appreciate your prompt response to this.

Agreed, thank you.

sorry misread the post, thought it referred to a similar rule that had been in rules for a while

so thx & everyone for clearing that up

I have PM’d a few times now but we are still not on the list of entrants. Am I doing something wrong?

(original post deleted - no longer relevant since removed the line)

Once again I am available my team was hit by and they experience outages

So I repeats once again, programmer, 3D artist, music composer and sound designer, if you need help , pm me

Arrrgh, this theme is kicking my ****. Day 2 and I still don’t have a game idea. Anyone got a bone they can throw my way?

My idea was sci fi western , space Cowboys death match in Clint Eastwood style

we feel ya brother - it’s not that unusual actually

and I thought I was the only one!
usually takes me/us up to a day of knocking around ideas & trying to think out a plan to see if it’s doable or not.
if you can find anyone to knock around ideas with helps tremendously preferably a gamer but even non-gamers may surprise you, luckily I have someone that helps and it’s a great help indeed. if for no other reason but to help think thru the project idea & to be able to see things from a different perspective.

sometimes a game jam theme is more specific than others & this one can be perceived in lots of different ways. basically I think it’s a revenge thing of a sort but if stuck try googling the idea / theme seems to help sometimes.
just remember to keep it simple as possible, be realistic, and plan as much as possible. planning helps you see if the idea is feasible.

anyway Good Luck - I’m sure you’ll come up with something & will be fine.

I’d like to find a blueprinter to work with. Have a couple good ideas. I can do 3d art and anims.

Thanks guys.

pm’ed you?

Hook me up for a solo member team. Team Name: #HurricaneMatthewRuinedMyPlans, thanks!

Not to alarm anyone , but is there any that all of us are thinking about making Spaghetti Western games? If so we should start calling dibs :stuck_out_tongue:

Question re: Assets.

I’m creating some materials and textures for my project now. If I use reference photos from CGtextures.com as part of the process of making the textures but build on it to create something new and unique does it still count as being made during the gamejam? Is that something I should disclose when I’m doing the submission?

Hi,
The game jam ends on 13th October (is it utc -8?) ,cause i am from Malaysia (diff time zone) so i wanna make sure i can submit on time (not too early not too late). Is there a countdown timer for the deadline?
Thank you ^^

I would like one of the requirements posted clarified, if possible:

Does this mean that if I use starter content, then I must change the material on the model (i.e., retexture the starter chair)? Or, not use the default white material applied to imported models / untextured assets? Etc.
