Epic MegaJam! Oct. 6-13th, 2016

Hey Lee, even if he hasnt replied yet, dont worry.
Just start making the game and your team will be added in the next week and even IF it isnt which is a very big if, it will still be accepted as a submission.

Hate to start with such a dumb question but how do we get a game under 100mb? Even a blank project is 191mb.

You need to send them the compiled version and if this version is under 100 mb you are in the pool for example my ProjectsFolder is about 1,2 GB but compiled the App is only about 60mb .apk and installed about 120

Looking for a team, I am a 3D artist, programmer and electronic music composer but I am very new with Unreal and game development.

Music

Code

3D art

a good start point

My other team-mate and I are wondering if you are allowed to create a VR title. And also if you need to highlight this somewhere on delivery.

ty, my games, are always larger than 1gb

Thanks for the lead. I’m packaging a fresh “third person” type project with no starter content. I’m building it for windows 64-bit. I went through the docs and checked “Create compressed cooked packages” and build configuration “shipping”. The project is still 130mb. Is this normal? If this is the smallest you can package for windows that’s fine, I just never ran into this problem before.

I’m playing catch up right now, sorry folks! Every time I think I’m caught up, I get another flood. You’ll get a PM response shortly.

Due to some important matters that popped in the last days leading up to this jam we’ll see if I can participate (I’ve already registered myself). I would love to participate but we’ll have to see.

Is the image on the banner for the theme meant to reflect the theme or is it just the words that reflect the theme?

Is it ok to make a game in VR? Do the judges have access to motion controllers? I want to use the VR template as a base for the game and build on that. I use a HTC Vive for testing?

This hurricane… Looking for the final slot for the team: ONE additional artist. 3D or 2D. Hit me up.

Yeah, a clarification on VR topic would be great. I am thinking on working on a cardboardVR game for android, but if it’s not advised for this game jam, I’d rather know it sooner than later

Seeing how they said it must be packaged for PC…I would think that would rule out mobileVR. But PC VR is acceptable.

Oh I see, seems that I missed that part. Thanks

The rules say no depictions of animal cruelty, but how strict is this? Can you fight animals in a not serious/exceptionally violent way? Or just no violence involving animals period?

Just use some common sense people in regards to the rules. If you have doubts, just don’t waste your time on it unless you want to take a . Time’s ticking.

I’m a modeler if you’re interested I can join you’re team.

I’m slightly worried about this rule (number 4) on all sponsor rules:

[MENTION=8] [/MENTION] is that written in that form intentionally or just some oversight? Basically if it is what it says, it means we waive all our rights to our own jam entries to the sponsors.

Oh. I’m glad you spotted this, because this is not okay. This is very not okay at all.
