Epic MegaJam! Oct. 6-13th, 2016

Who needs marriage? You’ll regret missing out. Come on and Jam!

Already a year since the last Mega Jam  I hope I’ll have the time to be in this one too ^^

I’m (very) new to Unreal Engine, but this is too good an opportunity to miss. I’m going to attempt a solo project and see what I can do.

Nice work.

In London and definitely up for doing this jam!

Just a little feedback for next year, can you please, please really please, change the date for the next Epic Game Jam? a week after or before? something?
If for some reason a person have things to do in this dates, like a familiar birthday, celebration, anything, something unavoidable, that person will never can participate.
This happened to me last year, this is happening to me in this one and probably will happen to me the next one.
Thanks!

I feel you. They like to do the Epic MegaJam over my wife’s birthday.

bring it
i’m waitin:):):)

For the “Best Game Under 100mb” - is that <100mb zip file, or <100mb uncompressed project?

Uncompressed. This is a challenge to come up with creative ways to make the game take up as little space as possible. Learning how to package a project to minimize size will be a valuable skill as well.

UE4 windows_no_editor Engine folder is ~90MB
are we allowed to delete the extras folder (prerequist setup for UE4), it’s ~40MB?

Create compressed cooked packages = true
List of maps to include in a packaged build<include only the maps the game uses>
Include crash reporter = false
Set package configuration to Release - Those are the package reduction tips I know, I’m sure there’s loads more?

Yes, but none that have been clearly documented that I have ever been able to find.

In theory, there is some way to eliminate portions of the engine that you don’t use. However, I have not found the magic key to unlock this mysterious wonder yet.

Hey! We’re wicked excited to join this jam so if anyone is a BP Systems designer who can do simple Health/AI/Puzzle systems I’d love to not have to do it myself since I’m the level designer and general UE4 dev. Hmu!!!

“The game must include custom gameplay that exceeds that found in Epic Games’ starter templates.”

Could somebody explain me what this means ??

Thank you

I can answer my question, yes we can: there is an option to include/not include the prerequiste in the packaging settings of UE4; so the 40MB are gone.

@Rishabhabhani They want you to go more in depth with a game than what can be done from one of their templates. Basically no cloning their templates.
Also I’m excited to do this jam, haven’t done one in a year

Sounds very interesting. I’ll be following this to see what comes up with.

For Gamejam i’m must use assets and code created before jame announced? Can I’m use my WIP project assets?
Where I can read gamejam rules?
