My Epic account name and creator code are different. After publishing a game, I’ve noticed that my Epic account name is being displayed instead of my creator code in two places.
On the game share link webpage https://www.fortnite.com/play/island/island_code, the game name is displayed along with “(Creator: Epic Account Name)”. I believe the creator code should be displayed here instead of the Epic account name.
In the HUD of the gameplay screen, the Epic account name is being displayed instead of the creator code. The island code watermark should display the creator code, not the Epic account name.
Additional Bug:
When the “Island Code Display” option is set to “Show” in Island Settings, I expected only the island code to be displayed without a watermark. However, nothing is displayed at all.
I don’t believe it’s a account/code issue, moreso a game thing. There are parts in the UI where it shows the Epic Display Name of the creator Instead of the CreatorCode.
(Top Part shows MinebloFN which is my DisplayName while Bottom part shows Mineblo which is my creator code)
Thanks for your quick reply, but as Mineblo said, this is not an account issue. This is inconsistency in the way of presenting these 2 different types of data and it applies to all creators:
Creator Code (In my case “locutus”)
Username (In my case “locutusfn”)
I have them very similar, but many creators have them very different, which could be very confusing.
When I enable default function in UEFN to show a map code, it will show “locutusfn” in all of my maps, which is not my Creator Code, but it is my Username for Epic’s Account. The same is with the page for new direct island link for playing a map, there is also my Username “locutusfn” and not my Creator Code “locutus”. While on a standard page about a map there is correctly “locutus”.
When I published my first map, I was really confused by this, because I didn’t want to show my username inside of my map, so I had to learn how to show my correct Creator Code via HUD Message Device, which was not difficult, but it was just another thing that was unnecessary obstacle at the beginning.
So I am surprised that it is still like this after almost a year since I saw it for the first time.
Can confirm this is happening to me as well, it shows a really old display name… I went back and fourth with the support team for a whole month last year with no resolution to this problem as they said they don’t have access to Creative/UEFN stuff and told me to make a post on the forums instead
From my tests it seems that if i make a creative 1.0 map, the name shows up correctly but the moment I convert the map to UEFN it changes the display name to my old one.
And of course if i initially make a UEFN map it’ll show the old display name.
So there’s something going on with UEFN on the backend.
There is simply nothing wrong with your account, it is just that in different places are shown different data. In general it is like this for everyone who is using UEFN and has different Username and Creator Code (I don’t know regarding maps created in Creative 1.0). You can see this inconsistency even in very well-known maps with a lot of players, even in the Valhalla Bossfight which was included in one of the recent official Epic’s presentations as an example of a successful map, check it out:
It seems like in games published with UEFN, the Epic account name should be hidden, and only the Creator Code should be exposed. Is it the intention to have both exposed like this? That sounds like a seriously wrong intention.
Wouldn’t you consider reconsidering that intention?
