Ensure condition failed: SelfScope, cannot packaging UE5 Project. SOLVED

Hello!

I am getting a bunch of errors during Packaging for Windows. I have tried to follow all of the tutorials and other forum posts out there about this, but nothing worked.

Here are the things that I have done so far:\

  • Follow every possible tutorial to fix my project. During Build I come up with 0 errors and 0 warnings.
  • Reinstalled the engine
  • Updating SDK
  • Trying to create a new empty project and package it. (This worked actually! The empty project exported ok)
  • Migrating the basic assets for my project (No Marketplace stuff) to the fresh new blank project and try to package it. → Now I get all the errors again.
  • Going through all my blueprints and delete all unhooked and non executable nodes.

The weird thing is that my game plays correctly with no issues in the editor.
When I package it, I can see it working, but then the cook fails (see error below)
and no package is exported.

The project is honestly pretty simple and all done in Blueprints. Again, no issues while playing in editor.

Please help! :confounded:

UPDATE: Doing some savage testing and deleting, I narrowed down the problem to one animation blueprint. I will investigate further…

mm i’ve been getting this exact error aswell in one configuration of winsdk, net core runtime and net framework. Been at it last couple of days without being able to package properly and getting different errors in different configurations

the last error with assert isValid() I was able to get rid off by unticking quixel bridge in plugins

Good find! You are right! That got rid of the IsValid error. The other 2 still stand though. and now the cooking ends with an actual failure. Before it was completing the cook but still giving me failure.

OMG! I FOUND THE PROBLEM !!! SON OF A…
I simply had some nodes unhooked in my animation blueprint. THAT’s IT!!!
I just deleted them and it packaged with 0 error and 0 warnings. :sunglasses:

Thank you for helping me figure this out! Hope this can help any other person who runs into this problem. Moral of the story:
Check your blueprints for unhooked nodes!!!

I just want to confirm that this worked for us as well (Unreal 5.4.3) and totally saved my sanity. I had a giant chunck of node graph that I didn’t need, so disconnected incoming wire at the beginning of it, coming from a sequence. After I delete de giant nodegraph, it build like a charm.
