Last week a strange thing started happening to my game build which was very random and frustrating. I am currently working on a VR prototype and having a problem with the engine where it just randomly freezes completely. There is no particular thing that makes it crash it just happens at a random point. I was using the engine version 13.2 and i thought it might have been a bug in the version so today I started rebuilding the whole game from scratch on the 12.5 version hoping it will sort the frustrating problem out… but after 10 minutes of working on the build it started happening again. When the engine freezes the only option you have is to shut it down through task manager and you get no error messages. I hope that someone out there has a solution for this.
Could you provide some log files from one of the sessions where the editor froze? You can find them in the project’s directory under Saved/Logs. This should be able to give some information on what is going on when it freezes.
Does this only happen with this VR Prototype project or does it happen even with an empty project that you haven’t added anything to? Can you try disconnecting the VR device you’re using, if it is connected when these freezes occur, just to ensure that it isn’t anything related to that?
Also, can you try monitoring your CPU/GPU/RAM usage/temperatures when using the editor to see if any of them are getting unusually high?
We haven’t heard from you in a while, TadasJuknevicius. Are you still experiencing this issue? If so, could you provide the information I requested in my previous comment? In the meantime, I’ll be marking this issue as resolved for tracking purposes.
