Hello! So I’ve been building a UEFN map for a few weeks now and the memory is getting a bit high, 68000 right now. I want to enable streaming in UEFN to get down the memory in-game, which works perfectly and it goes down to around 30-40,000 around the map. BUT, when I enable streaming, My IslandSettings gets disabled, so I cant start/end game or check island settings because it says the IslandSetting device is not available.
What can I do?
That’s a strange issue. Have you tried deleting the old settings device and making a new one after you enable streaming?
Otherwise, you may be encountering a bug, in which case you should submit a report to Epic. Here’s the link: Fortnite Creative
What happens if I delete the old settings device? Will that effect any of my devices because I have alot. Been building the map for weeks.
Wierd thing is, the islandsettings seems to be working since stuff I changed in the islandsettings device are enabled. It just says its not in my map, and I cant start/end game trough fortnite, just trough UEFN:
Not everything though, UI HUD Trackers does not work, but hud controller works and I can still fly around.
The only thing that should happen if you delete the settings device is the live edit game simply not ending. I wouldn’t think deleting the settings would affect the devices, but I’ve never tried it myself since I haven’t encountered this issue. Island settings never have any connection with map devices, so they should be safe.
“Should” freightens me, since I’ve built for probably 80+ hours now, and I have no idea how to go back from an update within UEFN, have been asking in the discord how to revert changes, but no luck.
Are you able to duplicate your project and just delete it on the copy as a test to make sure it works?
That way you wouldn’t damage the original if things didn’t work right.
How do I duplicate an project without it being connecting to the original one?
Is it possible to do backups of projects in the same project?
I’m not sure. like I’ve said, I’ve never done this myself. There might be documentation on that right on the website, otherwise, I’m sure there’s some Youtube videos or reddit how-to’s for duplicating projects, assuming it can be done.
I think you might be able to make a backup of the island like this: Click on the “File” tab on the top left of the screen, and under that click “New Level From Island” It should create a new level from the existing island. That’s what I was able to find on the documentation page.
How long does it take for Epic to respond to the bug submission? Im really close to publish after weeks of building, but I want to get down the memory since the map needs to load in and the game lags for about 10-15 seconds when joining.
I submitted a bug report for the issue with the storm circles like 2 weeks ago and I haven’t gotten any word back from Epic yet, or a fix for the issue. I think the deal with bug reports is, there’s just too many of them for the staff at Epic to deal with right now. UEFN is only in the early public beta stages, after all. It still is discouraging though when stuff won’t work and doesn’t get fixed.
Thank you for your report! We would like to look into this further, would you be able to submit a bug report using the form available here: Fortnite Creative
Hello, I did that several days ago! =)
Hey! Its been 14 days since I sent in the bug-report. How long does it usually take?
Still cant activate streaming on my map.
