Hey all,
I’m dabbling with materials at the moment and have an idea for something I would like to achieve with a material, but I’m not sure if its possible, and if it is, I’m not sure how I’d go about it…
What I’m trying to do…
Use a material as the “light from a room” behind a window.
So I started with a simple emissive material and that’s ok, but not great.
What I was hoping to achieve was to have a kind of “mask” that could be applied that, given a value between 0 and 1, would indicate how much that mask “fills” or “covers” the emissive material. This would create a kind of “blind” effect - enabling me to then very easily change how much of the blind is covering the window and thus how much light comes out from the room using the emissive…
So… firstly, is this achievable?
Secondly… if so… can anyone gives me some pointers, or a screenshot of example nodes that would get me heading in the right direction.
Example window:
The yellow material is the emissive at this time… haven’t workeed on it at all yet so some way to go…
