Emissive lighting blocked by objects

Hi everyone, probably another simple question here, but I couldn’t find an answer when looking at tutorials.
I’m using an emissive texture for my main character, to light up the character’s lantern. It works really well, better than I thought it would!
But there’s one big problem right now, that being the light is entirely ‘shut off’ whenever something gets in the way of the point where it’s being emitted.

Example here!

Is the problem with how emissive textures are rendered? I’m wondering if perhaps they’re based on the line of sight with the camera? If that’s the case I’m assuming I’ll need to find another way to light my scene, correct? I tried removing my post processing volume (the cel shader) but the problem remains with regular lighting.
Hopefully that isn’t the case, I do like this set up I have now, and if there’s a fix, that’d be great! Here’s the material set up, in case anybody wants to see it.

Thanks again!

The emissive glow effect is a post process, it can’t render if the emissive texture is not visible.

Consider attaching an actual light to a bone on the character’s hand
