Editor mode keyboard shortcuts active when in Play In Editor

Hi, we’re finding that in 5.6 one or more editor keys are active when in Play in Editor, which is a change from previous versions.

Our example is that the P key, which toggles Show Navigation in Editor, also now toggles Show Navigation when in a viewport Play in Editor session. This is trivial to reassign but caused some confusion and clashes with some gameplay assigned inputs.

Is this an intended new behavior, and if so is there a way to disable it?

Steps to Reproduce
Create a new launcher project, use the FirstPerson template

Add a Navmesh Bounds Volume and ensure it overlaps some geometry

Press P to toggle navigation on/off in Editor.

Start a Play in Editor session, and press P to observe that Show Navigation is also toggled on/off when in PIE.

Hello [mention removed]

I was able to reproduce the behavior you described.

I’ll investigate and get back to you once I find anything.

All the best,

Hi [mention removed]

Sorry for the late reply.

I’ve been trying to figure out if there was a way to disable this behavior, but after some search, the only way I was able to circumvent this was to, instead of playing in the Selected Viewport, run the game on New Editor Window (PIE):

[Image Removed]Running it like that allowed me to avoid the issue of the Navmesh appearing while pressing P.

I agree with you, the behavior is confusing, so I’ve made a JIRA report to be added to the Unreal issue tracker website (https://issues.unrealengine.com).

Please note that Epic ultimately determines whether the issue will be made publicly accessible, and the process can take a few days; therefore, the tracking link may not be immediately accessible.

Once available, you will be able to track the resolution at Unreal Engine Issues and Bug Tracker (UE\-297623)

I’ll close the case.

If you have anything to add, reply, and it automatically reopens.

All the best,
