Editor Lockup/Crash with raytracing enabled project

Hello,

Problem
We have a fresh installed version of UE 4.26 and a fresh project with ray tracing enabled. When the editor is maximized, we’d click on any editor menu, such as Build, and the editor would go hay wire and then crash or lock the entire system, resulting in a system reboot.

You could in fact, still run PIE

P.S The project was Blueprint only, VS not installed.(Yet)

Work Around
Have the editor not maximized, and it works perfectly.

Running Gear
Resolution: 4K running at 120Hz
Graphics: NVidia RTX 3090
Processor: 10980XE
RAM: 256Gb running at 3600Mz
DX Version: DX12
Windows Version: 20H2

Questions

  1. Is this a bug with NVidia or Unreal Engine?
  2. Can someone clarify why it is happening?
  3. Is it user error, to much power in the running gear, or simply something we’ve over looked.

Cheers,

Okay, so it would seem that it is the latest game ready driver from Nvidia. Someone had The exact same issue. Unfortunately, we installed the engine after the Nvidia update, hence why we couldn’t find the reason for this issue.

P.S, the logs didn’t show any indication of any errors or crash logs.
