I have a set of e57 scans collected with various hardware: Navvis, FARO scanners. These work ‘fine’ in Cloud compare, but I can’t get them to show up in Reality Capture, at all. They go through the ‘import’ process but then nothing is visible, nothing can be selected, there’s nothing there to build a mesh with. I have tried exporting from Cloud Compare in PLY, tried exporting as LAS (my eventual destination is Cesium) - which works, though losing colour info. Any ideas? Thanks!
The scans need to be ordered perhaps that is the issue, this article might help.
Hi Wallace. The scans are ordered - there is a TLS/GBL scan position observed on each in Cloud Compare.
Hi Robbie, can you check the intensity values of your scans? RC works in range 0-1 (but the pre-set minimal setting is 0.3)
Hi Ondrej
I think it’s 0-1
Hi Robbie,
can you try this picking tool from CloudCompare:
to check the intensity value directly on the point cloud?
Also, you mentioned Navis. Have you ordered that point cloud, too? Are those scans merged into one file?
According to what I know, export from CloudCompare could not save the TLS information.
Hi Ondrej
Thanks. Using that tool only shows values between 0 and 1:
I am not exporting from CloudCompare, I’m just opening to check the presence of TLS/GBL and it is there in all three scans. CC also says the files are generated by Autodesk ReCap, if that helps. One of the files reports intensity ranges from 0-255, but I’m working on a smaller one with 0-1, first.
I was considering this sentence regarding CloudCompare export:
According to your print screen the intensity is right (the scan with 0 - 255 is not).
Would it be possible to share the scans with us?
Sure thing. Please can you email me - robbie@lobsterpictures.tv and I will put on our Gdrive
