I’ve been catching up with the use of dynamic GI and how it works over the past few days and setting it up in a scene but from all the loose data from that it works to it doesn’t.
Am I of the understanding that currently Dynamic GI is not of a useable state in Ue4 at this current time or If I’m wrong what is the best way of setting it up for a outdoor scene?
Enlighten has an implementation for UE4 however it’s behind iron mirrors, their website states that their customers usually work on million dollar projects and that you should not contact them unless you work on a big project.
There’s LPV’s which, if you want everything in your world to look like it uses really bad and really fake lighting, work awesome.
There’s VXGI which always lags behind the latest release and requires you to compile the engine yourself and a whole lot of other ‘fun’ stuff to get it working in the first place. Good quality if you have a high-end rig. Not usable for anything beyond testing fun.
Then there’s CryEngine, which, while it’s still around, features SVOGI, which produces great quality at acceptable performance. Of course Epic knows about all this stuff too but the staff is under strict orders to never ever talk about dynamic GI prior to our sun going Supernova.
