Summary
When the custom items setting is enabled, a player who dies while holding a consumable loses that inventory slot. After they respawn, the slot looks empty, but nothing can be picked up into it and it doesn’t swap. The slot stays unusable for the rest of the session. With custom items turned off, the problem doesn’t happen.

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?
Other
Steps to Reproduce
- Enable the custom items setting and Push Changes
- Give a player any consumable (for example, a heal)
- Eliminate that player while the consumable is in their inventory
- After respawning, try to pick up an item into that slot
Expected Result
The slot is empty and can take new items after respawning
Observed Result
The slot is permanently unusable. Pickups don’t go into it, and full-inventory swaps don’t replace it
Platform(s)
PC
Additional Notes
It happens with any consumable I’ve tested.
It’s 100% reproducible with custom items on, and never happens with them off.
I’ve also had custom items stop working after the setting went stale: pickup prompts did nothing, and GetInteractorInventory failed in Verse. Turning the setting off and back on, then doing a full Push Changes, fixed that. It doesn’t fix this bug.
No Verse in my project touches inventory on elimination.
