Dying on terrain due to kill volume? Can't be adjusted in UEFN?

Character

Summary

After lowering some terrain below what i presume is the set kill volume on a UEFN blank scene, during play testing my character will always die immediately on these lower levels of terrain. I’ve tried to add a Fort Underground Volume with no luck. I’ve tried to find the default kill zone value to adjust the Z axis parameters but can’t seem to find them in UEFN compared to UE5?

For context, i’ve added a crater in the center of my map and when entering this crater the character will always die and respawn. If i go around the outside of the map where the crater isn’t present then I can run from one side to the other with no death occurring.

Steps to Reproduce

Lower terrain below a certain level what appears to be 0 or close to sea level.

Expected Result

Character can play and walk on terrain as an other area.

Observed Result

Unfortunately it just dies when entering these lower elevations/levels of terrain.

Platform(s)

UEFN

Use the Fort Underground Volume! It can be found under Volumes in the place actor panel.

Hello Deej, Welcome to the Forums.

KillZ is currently hardcoded at -9000, so my advice to you is to move everything up.

This is the first I’ve heard of overriding KillZ with FortUndergroundVolume, I set up a test for that and still died when crossing the -9000 threshold.

Hi @EsmeeSays Appreciate the reply. I did try using the Fort Underground Volume which was recommended on another thread in relation to dying while entering caves etc unfortunately no matter where i set the Fort Underground Volume to I still had the same issue at the same negative elevation causing the player death.

Thanks though!

Hi @Astrotronic appreciate the reply and valuable information/testing. I also tried this myself and had the same result but was unsure whether I implemented the Fort Underground Volume correctly so glad you clarified this.

As you suggested, I have since just moved everything up slightly which has solved the issue. Fortunately the project was in a very early blockout concept stage so wasn’t much issue. Hopefully we can adjust this in later updates for more creative freedom!

Thanks again!

Have you got an ocean, just wondering if a glitch is making you drown ?

Hi @Hardcawcanary Thanks for the suggestion, interesting possibility. I do have an ocean but it’s set up with water planes, Unsure if there is a different animation or announcement for drowning compared to a falling death but visually seems to be a falling death and ‘noping out’ announcement appears.

Update:
While writing this reply, I also just tested it out and can walk on terrain below my water planes with no issues but its when I get to a certain -z axis that the character will die.
