I am on the latest update of UE 5.2.1 with the nvidea studio driver v. 536.67

I should start by saying that I had no issue running UE 6 months ago on DX 12, after the latest update, I had to roll back my version to DX 11 to get the program to even open for longer than 2 seconds. Once I fixed that, I was able to keep the program open, but only for 5-10 minutes at a time and the DXGI error crashes me constantly.

I feel like I should be running on DX 12 and that is part of my problem, but I can’t find a configuration that allows it hence the DX 11.

These are blank projects, I start building and barely get anything in.

I have posted in the Nvidea forums to no avail, tried every tutorial fix on the internet for a week and now, sweet internet hive mind of UE…I turn to you. Please help me solve this issue, I am an indie dev and have work to do! <3

Some one please help =[

DXGI crashes and device removed crashes are almost always a system problem.

Whether it’s “sagging power supply” or “bad motherboard slot connector” or “bug in driver version” or “weak capacitors in graphics card” or something else like that, is really hard to figure out. (I’ve tracked such problems down to each of those problems in the past, and it’s a pain, and takes forever of “change one thing, then try it, then change the next thing, then try it, then …”)

Make a list of things it could be. Change one thing in the morning. Try using the system for the day. If it’s not fixed, change that thing back, and change the next thing next morning. Keep going through the list. When you think of other things, put them at the bottom of the list.
Also: “think of what it could be” is an art in itself. You’ll need to use a variety of support forums to come up with possible theories for what it could be, and how to test for it.

Let’s start:
Try with a different power supply.
Try with the same graphics card in a different slot.
Try with a different graphics card.

Good morning jwatte! Thank you for the reply =)

I do have to sigh here, this will take a few weeks to really sink my teeth into. I am on a tight budget and will have to plan for purchases like this. Pretty sure I have a spare PS, I have to check though. Are there any indicators I can rely on that might hint towards PS, or GPU failure? For example, I have watched my task manager and the GPU usage when these failures occur, and I see no spike at the moment of crash, in fact it runs very steady (being that I have no assets in a blank project and am generally just building nodes it is hardly being used) when the crash hits.

The GPU is quite new, not even 6 months old-I know that doesn’t mean much but it makes it less likely that the GPU is a problem (if only a little bit?).

I will switch out the GPU slot today though and try that first and start looking for my spare PS…I think I gave it to a friend in need though.

Yeah, I wish there was a better method, but if there is, I don’t know of it :frowning:
Friends, or liberal shopping return policies, can help.
