Duplicating objects within a folder with a space in the name is bugged

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a folder with a space in the name, like “1. World”
  2. Put any device in the folder
  3. Duplicate the device with CTRL+D
  4. Observe new folders being created and the duplicate being placed on them

Expected Result

The duplicated item remains in the same folder as the original one

Observed Result

New folders are created and the duplicated item is placed on them

My guess is that folders having a space in the name are bugging this workflow

This is not a bug.

Your folder names should never contain periods or spaces:

OK so this applies to the Outliner as well, which does not give us a red ! when we do

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I was thinking only in terms of the Content Browser. (And thought that they were creating folders with the Windows File Explorer)

I just reproduced it, to expand on your steps to reproduce I’d say:

1 . Create a folder in the World Outliner…

4 . A new folder will be created with the text before the first ‘space’.

Sorry for the assumption, I do think this is worthy of a bug submission.
