Dropped Items not reacting to physics of removed entities

Summary

When a dropped item sits on top of an entity with a simple box collider and the entity gets removed from the simulation, the item stays where it is in mid air and doesn’t fall down.

Steps to Reproduce

Add an entity with a box collider to the scene.
Drop items on the box. (You could stand on top of it and drop items from your inventory)
Then call the RemoveFromParent on that entity

Expected Result

The dropped item should fall where the box collider of the removed entity no longer exists.

Observed Result

The dropped item stays where it is.
