Double sided ocean

im having nothing but issues. I am using the water plane example to make the ocean. I dropped the translucent water plane down and added edge surf. No matter what i do i cant get it double sided. I tried a second plane and roate it 180°, i tried everything i could find that says two or double sided. Nothing is working. i can see from the top but not the bottom. When i rotate it 180 it just vanishes all together. How do i get the ocean to be double sided?

hi. can you post some of your project picture?

Set the material to be double sided.

Water top working fine: http://puu.sh/mqTDX/5de3c6fae5.jpg
Material instance two sided checked: http://puu.sh/mqTHb/2d38ae2e33.png

on plane two sided lighting is enabled: http://puu.sh/mqTWE/054f5b7f89.png
Double Sided Geoometry enabled on plane: http://puu.sh/mqU1X/2dcab0ff82.png

no one have any ideas?

maybe i cant see it on the screenshot, but if youre water material blurs the stuff behind it (similar to glass with uneven surface) then it seems like youre water does exactly set and blur the surface from the view bottom-up. at least it seems like it in the last screenshot and youre shader seems to work.

i have a post process volume that does bluring and color and such when under the water if that is what you mean? i tried using a cube instead of the plane and when i apply the texture it vanishes lol. thought cube could be scaled way down on z and have both sides. Just find it wierd two sided geometry and material isnt working at all.

Hello!

I looked at the material and found the option you are searching for.

  1. Make sure you have “two sided” in the material instance enabled and set the “Minimum Shore Opacity” to 1.

I hope I could be of help.

That definately helped. There is now a plane you can see from the underside, i set it to .9 opacity so i could still see through it but it doesnt show the ripples and such on the underside. i guess for now im willing to forgo that if it is not possible to get the ripples on the bottom edge.

you can definitely get ripples on both sides, must be some small error with your material. Underwater vid

Hey, have you ever been able to figure it out? I am having the same issue with the UE4 waterplane and this topic does not seem to be resolved. Let me kno if you figured it out.
