Do baked shadows have an effect on mobile actors?

Hi guys,

I have set up a very basic room made of a hollow box brush (with thick walls (>30cm) to prevent light bleeding), placed a couple of simple static box objects around the room and a stationary light which casts shadows.

The corners of the room are quite dark, because the static boxes cast shadows there. My dynamic character (third person view) should get darker when I enter these dark areas, but I have the impression that the character is too bright in comparison to the nearby static objects.

I have turned of Eye Adaptation and the room is completely black when no light in the room. Character is also black.

So my question is: Do baked shadows have an influence on the mobile actors in the scene? I guess they must have.

As always, thanks for your help.

Baked shadows do have an influence on Movable objects, but only at a very low resolution. If you enable Show->Visualize->Volume Lighting Samples you will see the points at which lighting is precomputed for Movable objects. It is then interpolated to the center of the object.

Thanks, . Is it possible to have negative lights which darken certain areas? These should only have an influence on mobile actors.

Uuuuhhh…cryengine dynamic lighting hack incoming??? :stuck_out_tongue:

yeah, got me  . But it would be useful
