No matter what I use, the Quixel material, a Quixel 3D asset, my own stuff or stuff from the marketplace, displacement does not work.
There are enough vertices, displacement maps are there, tesselation is enabled, displacement values can be changed, but the only thing that happens is that the asset or surface in question starts to grow if you ramp up the value high enough. I made a Blend Material and painted the layers, but there is no blending together with height values, no matter how I change it in the properties tab.
I have no idea what to do.
To clarify, if I build a new material and put in a world displacement value with a texture, it behaves like a world offset value. That means the faces of a simple cube for example will be offset with a little bit of tessalation, but the edges will not be closed by extra geometry, no matter how high the displacement value will get. It just offsets the edges further and doesnt affect the tessalation at all. The material preview also does not show the displacement. It just looks like a normal map or bump map. In the picture your see what happens. Every change only increases the offset. On some materials no tessalation takes place at all just offset despite the same values.
The material is a easy as it gets and still it wont work.
