Hi, I’m a Dev on UEFN. Let me see if I can help. I have a couple questions for you.
Have you reserved a layer for the Spline?
To reserve a Edit layer, right mouse click on a layer in your list you want to only use for splines and reserve for spline. It’s best that this layer is a blank*
Have you made any landscape sculpting edits above the layer you are trying to flatten?
Sculpting changes made to one layer will override all layers below it, but won’t override edits made to layers above it. This include landscapes affected by splines*
Thank you for your help. I am going to follow your advices, I did not reserved a layer for the Splines.
I have to say that, the main problem was to think that the use os multiple layers for organization purposes between zones was a good idea. Totally wrong, is a completly mess. Luckily I can collapse them in one layer and reserve another for the roads.
Under Edit Layers, the current layer you have selected is below the Revered for Splines. You’ll need to right-click on the spline layer and Create a new Edit Layer above the Revered for Splines. At that point you’ll be able to override the landscape affected by the spline itself.
You’ll want to be careful when sculpting the landscape after that point. As you’ll need to be aware of what layer you’re sculpting on. The same will be true for painting landscape.
One good trick is to create a Layer and call it Detail Painting. And only use it for painting the landscape.
Thank you for your time and advice. I forgot to mention that I already tried to make another layer above and try to solve this problem, but it seems that in the curve corners the landscape deforms a lot and is not prossible to make a smooth transition. Here you can see:
Spline deformation can easily get wonky and confuse the layers.
We’re careful not to stretch splines beyond their limits, like having them too close to ledges (even sculpting ledges that steep isn’t ideal).
Splines work best when they complement the exiting terrain. They’re not very good a doing a lot of heavy-lifting when it comes to sculpting it. I think the spline is pinching the landscape at the point and that’s what’s causing the issue.
Some solutions would be to reduce the width of the spline, then sculpt the edge curve you want. Or widen the curve to not have the spline pinch.
