yeah your right. They moved stuff around. 4.27 the materials look way better. Took a step backwards for some reason
Yep i know about the settings for the plugin in project settings, i have set fix bone rotations on import & all that but when i retarget the using the FootIK as shown in you’re post the animations that are retargeted too the gen 8 skeleton are messed up so you basically have to blendshape new animations because the standard mannequin set of animations that suppose to retarget don’t work like they did in 4.
Here is a link to a video tutorial i have followed but my character does not animate the same way… Daz to Unreal Engine 5 | Animation Retargeting | THE EASY Way After Engine Update - YouTube
Yeah not real easy compared to the old way.
What i really need to know is where the Intermediate folder is supposed to be pathed too so Unreal see’s it because it doesn’t seem to locate the Daz To Unreal file in it’s old default location on C drive since i have installed everything on D drive now, if i create a copy of the file path on d drive then set the intermediate folder from the daz side of the bridge when porting at the bottom of the first port page when sending to Unreal via the bridge as seen at the bottom of this page it doesn’t work.
I have tried 4 different areas in documents so i don’t know if it’s a file location or something else the bridge is not detecting when trying to grab the DTU file to convert.
Seems to me Daz3d will send the FBX files to intermediate folder location then i think it converts those files into a DTU file so Unreal reads it then converts the content from FBX. It doesn’t seem to detect that DTU file or from the looks of it or compile it correctly because it has 0 kbs after it fails to send.
If you import that 0kb DTU file manually found in the intermediate folder it fails when Unreal goes to read it and won’t add it into project.
When using the bridge i didn’t notice these errors in the cloud text.
See even this stupid platform won’t update a picture i misspelt this is also the reason why none of this works because the spies want to copy & keep everything now it’s ruining the service, if you want to know something come here i’ll tell ya spies ok stop playing games with my computer! You’re keeping error information and not updating it just like the picture i just loaded 5 times to replace the incorrect spelling but NO have your platform keep the original error version EPIC!
Actually i thought 5.0.3 has a way better render quality then 4.27 which was terrible. When i used to port stuff 4.27 i used to collect textures to folder and have the SUB D levels aswell, SUB D is important with daz characters as it improves quality in the daz studio and has an effect on materials.
The characters i did manage to migrate all come up better then ever & the most realistic i have seen in Unreal 5 then any other version, quality rivals daz3d hours long renders at default settings in 5.
You can always change the material quality in the material itself in Unreal but it will cost more cache loading shaders initially to get a higher material quality.
Here is my intermediate folder (exports) in my C: drive, the same where DAZ is installed:
Thank you for sharing this information.
Did you create that export folder because that’s not in my version just a presets folder is that supposed to be the same as an export folder.
Has a LastUsed cvs file in that folder
My version is from May 2022. I tested with a custom folder and worked the same way, but takes a time to compile all shaders. I also imported with the DTU file using the forum thread as you’ve shared, and it worked. Perhaps your problem is caused by the .dll file installed in the DAZ plugin folder. Have you checked it?
Doing this is basically the same as just pointing the intermediate folder location from the daz3d bridge when using send to option to the contents folder of you’re project, it will import the base skeleton with textures but the cornea need to be fixed by hooking up the texture to the RGB pallet in the texture blueprint itself.
It will ask for somethings to be added to a data table which i don’t know much about as i’m still learning Unreal, so i don’t know what data table the basemaps need to be associated too when directly exporting into the project content folder.
If you google “How to Fix QtCore4.dll Missing Error on Windows 10”, you’ll find solutions. It seems to be a Windows 10 bug.
Yeah those solutions don’t work, if you replace that qtcore4 file with one found off a website it will fail to work because each QTcore4.dll file is specific to each app & it’s user information, this has to be updated from the developer side i don’t see how i can fix this issue from my side without proper tech support.
As it is i have 2 years of projects on hold because i can no longer use the bridge with ease making it near impossible to work with a large library of contents that i need to port between editors.
Trust me i googled it and the best solution they offed was for an older qtcore4.dll version for the daz3dstudio which failed to start the daz3d studio itself, The problem isn’t daz3d qtcore4.dll file it’s something in the bridge because the daz3d studio itself would not even run without a proper qtcore4.dll file same with any app that depends on it.
That QTcore4.dll file will be imbedded in the app itself with the current version it requires, replacing it with something else found on the web will override it with someone else’s information, it’s a dangerous file to use if it’s the wrong file because it will stop the program running, so you don’t want to touch a windows OS qtcore4.dll file unless windows is updating you, same with the programs that each have there own qtcore4.dll file you only want that particular program updating it with whatever online service it’s connected too much like Epic’s client service or others like it.
If you directly import the DTU file which Unreal is supposed convert it’s asking for you to associate basemaps to a data table which was something the bridge did for you in previous versions, the plugin isn’t even converting the DTU file properly let alone the bridge reading the DTU file then moving into the project to then convert.
To fix a QTcore4.dll file issue that will effect the studio itself i want the developer to upload the file because i’m not sourcing it from some random freeware junk site, it should come from a secure trusted source that’s the correct version for the version you’re using, so Daz3D or Unreal should have secure sites they can provide upto date files of that nature.
As for windows my windows has zero issues with syncing with old accounts & merging information so, it doesn’t have a Qtcore4.dll issue in the operating system so replacing windows version is dangerous and would be only be required in extreme cases windows had issues running or connecting with profiles which i don’t have that issue with Windows account.
The only thing i can think of would be too clear Windows cloud settings in Windows account options, maybe this would restore settings but i’m doubtful, i need to hear from someone more experienced on the issue.
There is something wrong with importing FBX files Unreal just hangs when trying to import the files as shown here.
I can manage to get portion of the character ported in but it fails on static props like hair meshes. I can get the base skeletons to port over with texture’s, but you have to fix the eye material by reconnecting the texture in the blueprint of the material by dragging the texture into the cornea & eye moisture material blueprints then connecting the rgb pallet to the base colour, i figure i have to create a data table for the basemaps since none in the list work for these properties.
Just admit this bridge does not work, Unreal doesn’t import the FBX or DTU file & daztounreal content is there after you install the bridge.
Daz Studio & Unreal both have issues and i think only certain developers can actually use this bridge system because i have tried everything & nothing works anymore for any version of Unreal. These people are stopping me from porting content because i have to stuff around just to get somethings to work. How can you go wrong just installing the bridge each in editor, it’s these developers blaming us users for the garbage they won’t fix.
I have installed this correctly THE BRIDGE DOES NOT WORK! fix this access violation error & fix importing FBX files from daz3d because Unreal just hangs on importing anything now WHY!
Yes it fails to work in 4.27 now, i have both versions of the editor installed 4.27 & 5.0.3.
I can only get old projects to work that i had previously ported from daz3d to Unreal back when the bridge worked in 4.27, i migrated those projects but can no longer port anything more even in those projects where the bridge used to function the bridge fails to work when i try to add new props or meshes to those converted projects…
I have fresh installed this on different drives now, the setup really isn’t that hard place bridge file into dazstuido4 plugin folder then install plugin from the send option doesn’t work.
If you install the old way which is the bridge from marketplace that installs directly into the engine same thing doesn’t work
If you install the plugin from daz3d install manager or daz central with the correct file paths, doesn’t work.
I have checked all versions are correct upto date versions and still nothing is working, i still get this Access Error Violation in the QTcore4.dll file on every export, Unreal doesn’t even begin to convert the file it just fails & if you import those files manually from the intermediate folder daz3d sends the files for export it then fails & only imports parts of the mesh, I seem to be able to import any textures fine but FBX & DTU files will not convert & just freeze the engine during import making it impossible to finish importing & converting the files.
First of all, I want to thank you for looking into my problem.
Actually I solved the problem:
After multiple installations and uninstallations, I solved this error by replacing the dll in DS 4.20 with a dll that seemed obsolete but which works perfectly on my system.
What I can’t grasp is that with David’s latest dll: dzunrealbridge.dll.v2022.2.18.23 it worked as soon as UE5 was installed.
Then, after the aforementioned crash, it never worked again.
I installed this dll by chance and it works perfectly. I am unable to give the version and the date of this dll because when I open it in notepad, everything is in machine language, therefore unreadable. ( i’am not a programmer)
After having made several tests by creating new projects and having good results, I replaced the dll of Daz by that of David and again import problems.
I replaced it again with that old DS dll and it works again.
The problem is not really solved but maybe with a version 5.0.4 everything will be fine
Thanks again for your reply.

Hi there,
This is very strange, I installed from DAZ Bridge only, without using the files from Github. I have a version from May 2022 that still works with UE5.0.3. I guess we should install one version only, either from DAZ Central or Github, but never install both at the same time.
Have you tried the following:

That’s great to know.
To be able to help other users, if you are a Windows user, hover the mouse over the file in Windows Explorer, and you should be able to see the dll version and release date.
Keep up the good work.
DLL V 1.2.0.1 28/05/2021
It’s antique but it works with my system
Win 10 21h2
Thank you for sharing.
I have tried importing the DTU file & Unreal only accepts half the file in most cases & rejects others, Unreal just hangs in a non-responsive mode and never completes importing the DTU files, this happen a lot with hair and static props, none which had issues in previous versions.
I have tested the bridge in Unity here -
Daz3d does compile the DTU file with the textures you send with it correctly, it’s Unreal not converting the files now in 5.03… for months now i have not been able to resolve this issue so I’m now waiting for the next version of Unreal & hope the bridge will work again
