Darkness that follows the camera

Is is it that my screen is always very dark around the camera?

That’s screen space reflection, it can only reflect things that are visible on screen at that time, so the sky is getting cut off because it’s past the top of the screen.

Do you have any reflection captures in your scene? You probably don’t need this to be reflective anyways, so I would would just increase the roughness value in your material.
