Dark Interior

Hallo i have been searching the internet but i can’t find any solution.
Problem is i want to make a disco scene, inside my object i want it to be dark,
but outside the object i still want to have day light.
Now i have closed off everything all walls so there should be no light inside
but when i build lights my interior lights up and darkness is gone like on the pictures.
My question is how can i make this interior dark ?
And if someone answers please I’m a total beginner with unreal please explain it to me like to a baby…
Thank you for your time !

Since it’s a disco scene, have you added any lights(like point lights or spotlight) inside this building of yours?
because if you donot have any light inside the building it should not light up.
if you have added them then make all of the light intensity to 0.
Also make sure none of mesh is emitting light.

It’s probably the skylight. What are its settings (screenshots please, including advanced / expanded list of settings)?

Hi!

I think your lightmap resolution is extremely low and what you see is just a blur of all the lighting information from both side of your mesh!
Also I’m guessing that it’s a preview build… you should try to re-build the scene in higher quality build (medium or higher) + with higher resolution lightmaps!!

…the way you build your scene is not really ideal for Unreal: you have a lot of overlapping/intersecting meshes (like the columns or walls)! Unreal will calculate light for every part of the mesh!! So basically the areas that are not visible will be calculated too! You not just lose time but the quality will be lower too and you’ll discover these kind of inaccurate lighting results…

I have created new objects surrounding the hangar, 2 boxes, the inside with inverted faces and that fixed the problem so you where right about the meshes. Now it’s dark inside and everyting works perfect thank you for your answer !

Yes the skylight ruined it , but like Makigirl said it was the issue of meshes
