I tested this myself, and the instructions in my original post about the damage amplifier are incorrect. When setting a value above 4 in Verse, it automatically caps at 4.
The fact that this was introduced without any prior warning is pretty frustrating. This has completely broken the balancing in our map Slayer Simulator and now it’s essentially unplayable.
If this device is going to be the the only way to control player damage, then the minimum we expect is that it stays stable across updates - or at least give us advance notice when major limitations are being added.
We really hope this issue is treated with urgency. It’s disincentivizing to work this hard, only for creative and high-effort maps to be constantly penalized by platform instability.
The only good thing about it being a widespread issue that we’re all experiencing is that it will hopefully be fixed sooner. We’ve had game breaking bugs before that are less common and so don’t get fixed for ages.
We were hit pretty hard by the persistence issues a month or so ago and our numbers never really recovered from that, and this has dropped them even further from what it was.
On the plus side though, I always thought Slayer Simulator looks amazing, and if I get some free time I’m definitely going to check it out!
