Custom Landscape Brushes

Howdy,

I’ve been working with UE4’s landscape sculpting tool to make adjustments to a map imported from Blender.

I’ve been trying to add some custom shapes to the pattern and alpha tools as opposed to the standard circle.

I have some brushes I’ve previously used in Photoshop and converted them to 16bit Greyscale PNGs but they don’t seem to follow the brush shape very well. In some case’s a get an error saying something about the image not being two channel? (can’t remember exactly what it said).

Has anyone successfully used custom brushes in UE4?

Is there a /min size for PNG’s being used as brushes?

Could someone share the image specs or an example file I could use to copy settings?

Thanks for your help,

You just have to make sure that they use black and white colours. Here is an example:

  1. I think you mean the “power of two” message -> make sure that you use texture resolutions like 2048x2048,…
  2. yes, I successfully use custom brushes
  3. upper picture (or just take a look at the noise textures from the starter content)

Mate, how are you always the first and most helpful reply?

“Power of two” was the exact issue. Ratio was off slightly.

Cheers , onwards and upwards!

They don’t have to be b&w- I have some color ones I use and then there is a little selector to choose the channel.
