Custom Inventory and Items: Now Available as an Experimental Feature in UEFN

Custom Inventory and Items is now available as an Experimental feature in v37.40, enabling you to customize, modify, or completely replace the default player inventory system. You can create fully custom items with unique properties, design gameplay that reacts to player inventories, and build systems like in-game economies, crafting mechanics, and more!

During the Experimental phase, publishing won’t be available but you’ll be able to test and provide feedback on this feature while it’s under development. Custom Inventory and Items Feedback Thread

We’re aware of an issue where creators may not be able to publish islands that had previously enabled Experimental Custom Inventory Items.

If you have done this and want to publish your island, you will need to roll back your IslandSettings file to a version before Custom Inventory and Items was enabled.

Please remember to use a copy of your project when testing experimental features.

Are we to assume that some iteration of this feature will be the standard going forward?

Like, as someone that doesn’t mind if I released 3 months from now, would it be a good idea to build around this?
