Hello everyone, this is the final project I´m making for my Videogame Art Master at UA School (Valencia). We are supposed to do a full environment of our election, focusing the work on the visual part.
I decided to make a CS GO style map, because I really like tactical shooters and I wanted to try to create a playable map from zero.
We have 2 months to make it, so don´t expect something amazing at the end please
And to finish my first post in this journey until June, here I have my first step making the modular kit for the environment; it´s not yet finished but I almost have the modeling part done.
I hope you liked the post, thank you in advance for all the feedback that maybe you´ll want to share with me and we´ll see on the next weeks
Hello again guys, after 2 weeks with some health problems and also technical issues I´m back to show you my work these weeks for my final project at UA School.
Before starting it´s important to say that I made a big change to the blocking of the map because I will probably not have time to finish the last design at time, so I just change the measure to a half size of the first map.
Here we have the modular kit that I did in Maya to use it for my environment; It´s the first modular kit I made so it´s probably bad at some point but I´m happy with the result. Anyways I will probably create some more modular kit assets to give more personality to the environment, we´ll see…
These are the bookmarks I decided to take in Unreal because it shows the important things in the environment and gives protagonism to the main assets that will be in the final result.
And to finish for this week post, here we have the first advance I made in the weapon that the character it´s going to carry. It´s only the blocking and as you can see in the reference it´s an USP-S. I want to put lot of work on this asset to have a good result because it´s actually the main asset that you are going to see alll the time while you play.
So, this is all for this week, I hoped you liked it and see you next week
One week later, here I am to show you my work for my final project at UA School.
This week was focused on finishing our hero asset for our environment. In my case I´m making a FPS environment so my hero asset it´s going to be the weapon that it´s holding the character.
I did this USP-S based on Counter Strike, but trying to improve it to be a replica of the real weapon. I tried my best and I´m happy with the result but I´m sure that I can make it better with more texturing knowledge.
Here are the Low Poly and High Poly models of the asset with the poly count and the textures that I made in Substance Painter.
So this is all for this week… Next week I will try to have some more simple assets to fill the scene and I will start doing the main structure that it´s in the center of the environment, we´ll see if i can do it all for the sunday…
Heeey guys I´m back !! Really tough weeks this time, my pc decided to get broken and I couldn´t work on anything for almost 1 week, added to some technical issues I had in some props that were not working in Unreal… But with all that struggling I´m here again to show you the things I´ve done.
And here a couple of screenshots of the environment were I show some assets already placed.
I have imported this evening some decals and more stuff I´m going to use in the environment to start giving it more life and details. I hope I won´t have more problems until the end of the project so I can show you next week a great advance into the environment.
Hello again everybody !! I´m back after few weeks, and this time we have a great evolution in my environment cause I couldn´t actualize the post on the last weeks… Sorry for that
Right now it´s almost finished, I only have to work on the post process and the illumination of the scene and we´ll be completely done.
Here I have the all the assets I made by myself for my environment; basically the modular kit for the main construction of the environment and some props to fill it.
And here all the bookmarks of the scene; as you can see there´s a lot of changes from the last entry. Basically I focused on the vertex painting of the walls and the floor and to give it a better look I upgraded my vertex painting material with the HeightLerp nodes to have more control of the material and make it look better and coolest.
I have used few Megascans assets to fill the environment cause due to the time we have to finish the project I couldn´t do more props by myself if I wanted my scene to be complete and not empty.
I hope you like the progress and next week will be the final so let´s see how it ends…
Wow, your fan-made map inspired by CS-GO has become a reality! You have done a fantastic job, from creating the modular kits to establishing blocking to a full-fledged environmental scene!
Although I missed most of the development process, I can’t wait to see how the final results turn out!
Thank you for your comment Zezkaii !! I would have uploaded more stuff about the development process but I had some technical problems… We´ll see this sunday how it turns out !!!
The pleasure is all mine! I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been having some technical problems, and I hope they get resolved soon. I’m looking forward to the next update on Sunday!
I completely agree with your sentiment! Also, welcome the Unreal Engine Community @carlinecouz; we’re happy to have you! I always wondered how this creation turned out in the end.
It’s awesome to see how you’re putting your passion for tactical shooters and your skills to good use for your Videogame Art Master’s final project.
Don’t worry about setting the bar too high – the journey itself is what counts, and it’s all about the learning process. Two months is a great window to dive into this project and see where your creativity takes you. We’re all looking forward to seeing your progress and cheering you on!
Keep us posted on your map-making adventure, and remember, the CS2 community is always excited to see new maps and content.
Hello Zezkaii, actually this was my very last upload of the project so it was the final result at that moment. That´s why I never upload nothing more about this, sorry for the bad explaining.
Oh no, you’re fine! Your explanation made perfect sense, and I thank you for clarifying! Now, If you don’t mind, I’m on my way to your most recent project.
