Cryptomatte for InstancedFoliageActors

Is there a way to render a cryptomatte of a scene with different trees in a instanced foliage actor and get the cryptomatte with different colors for each tree?

I think I understand why it doesn’t work but it would be great if you guys could come with a solution to do this in future versions

Ahh, I apologize. I read this too quickly and thought you were asking for per material crypto. Per-instance/object crypto is supported. I tried it in 5.6 and it worked for me. It should “just work”. Can you share a foliage asset or level or something?

unfortunately I can’t share anything from that scene but could you point me to a sample/scene where this work and the steps to do it? maybe we were doing something wrong?

I’m not doing anything special. I just opened a default 5.6 project. Made a new level with a new landscape. Grabbed a cube and used that as foliage. Then in MRQ I just added the Object IDs to the config. When I open the rendered exr in Nuke I can see the IDs per foliage instance.
