Sometimes when attempting to matchmake into a public session for a UEFN project the matchmaking will become stuck on “Preparing” / “Updating (100%)”
So far I have only seen this issue on PC and is not limited to just one specific project/playlist.

Was there a fix for this? I seem to be suffering from the same issue.
P.s you have impeccable skin choice.
Nope, unfortunately not. Since this is a Matchmaking issue there is not really anything we can do as creators to resolve this.
Hopefully Epic are aware and have a fix ready to be shipped in an upcoming patch. Though I honestly wouldn’t expect this issue to be fixed for another 2-4 weeks at minimum - This is the way
2-4 weeks minimum is CRAZY! Oh well, more time to update my map I suppose.
EDIT: Did you mark this post as [CRITICAL]? If not it seems like epic is aware of it.
Hi @Seymour @KianMckenna any chance you could send us Fortnite logs of this issue occurring? Thanks!
I have attached my logs below. I would also like to add that I am having consistent long load times when trying to launch a session in UEFN, making play testing a tiresome process (this occurs even with the power of the Xbox Series X).
Here are my logs:
FortniteGame.log (6.6 MB)
FortniteLauncher.log (268.4 KB)
curious if you found a fix for this. Most of my friends have to load my island at least twice in order to get in, usually crashing on first attempt.(all consoles, *especially switch)
This happens on 2 out of 3 of my maps.
Hey everyone, the team is investigating this issue. @D-Tupp I’ll reach out via DM. Thanks.
@D-Tupp trying your island codes I was unable to reproduce on PS4 and PC. I’ll try to repro on switch.
@KianMckenna the team has looked into your published map issue and found a few things but:
This should be better (although not where we want it yet) in future updates. The user does need to fix the test map issue, which I think they’ve already done (your GameFeatureData asset was referencing a missing level), just the published version is broken. Also, in the short term they will probably have an easier time if they can reduce the number Fab assets. Optimizing for these large module count projects is still WIP
Hopefully this helps. Try publishing a newer version of your level in the meantime because we think the issue is resolved on later versions. Thanks!
Now publishing a new version and will let you know how it goes.
thank you
Finally getting back around to this @D-Tupp. I was able to repro this issue on Switch. I’ll look into this and try to keep you updated.
thank you.
I wanted to say it was better, which it initially seemed like it was but only while loading alone into public match. Loading with friends, it seems no different. switch was able to load one of the maps(by the time we were done playing) but not the other(crashed to homescreen).
Friend on Xbox One now getting Network connection error when joining.
