Critical Issue. Cannot launch session on my computer

Summary

Whenever I try to launch session or create a private version, whether it is through my computer or from another device I own, the loading process completely stops and give me a module error that I cannot fix.

When friends of mine tried to launch session on the project, the loading time was long, but they were eventually able to launch private versions and sessions.

Other

Steps to Reproduce

On my end, click “Upload to private version” and wait for the process to complete.

Or click “Launch Session” and wait until everything loads.

Expected Result

When the loading process is complete, a private version with a code should be available and can be played by playtesters.

When launching session, players should be loaded into the project where they can edit and work on the project.

Observed Result

When trying either of these on my devices, I am given an error. “Failed to upload project”, “Failed to Upload sources for module”.

The output log says "Failed to upload file… … with error: [No response]

A private session will not be created, and the player will be stuck in the Hub when trying to launch session. The game cannot be accessed in any way through my devices.

Additional Notes

In order to playtest/publish my project, I need my friends to do the entire process for me. This has happened for the past week and is causing major setback to my work.

All devices that I have tried to upload private version/launch session with were logged into my account and using the same wifi connection. Friends (one local, one far away) Have been able to do this with 0 errors.

This is a post with further information about errors I have been receiving. Hopefully this newer information should help to find the root of the issue. I really appreciate your time!

hi @DRAW12 ,
Looking at the log you have your project on OneDrive probably because you are using Windows 11, which defaults to OneDrive which is ACTUALLY stored on a remote server and the remote server cannot access this

ogValkyrie: Error: Create build failed: Upload failed
ogValkyrieFortniteEditorLiveEdit: Verbose: FValkyrieFortniteEditorLiveEdit: : UploadEnd C:/Users/name/OneDrive/Documents/Fortnite Projects/Runic/Runic.uefnproject, EValkyrieSyncProjectState: :
LogValkyrieRequestManagerEditor: OnProjectSyncCompleted: C:/Users/joeyc/name/Documents/Fortnite Projects/Runic/Runic.uefnproject, EValkyrieSyncProjectState: : Failed

see the advice in 32.00 releaase notes

Fixed an issue where a warning was not being displayed if a project was created in a folder managed by external backup systems such as OneDrive or Dropbox in UEFN.

32.00 Fortnite Release notes -UEFN Fixes

You need to move the projects from
C:/Users/name/OneDrive/Documents/Fortnite Projects/Runic
to
C:/Users/jname/Documents/Fortnite Projects/Runic

Then try this again by changing is the browse path in UEFN to
C:/Users/name/Documents/Fortnite Projects/Runic

How should I go about redirecting where it’s stored? Whenever I download my project it will always go straight to onedrive.

(Also cut out my user please)

hi ,
found this on Google

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

  1. Open File Explorer: You can find it on your taskbar or by searching in the Start menu.

  2. Locate the Documents Folder: Navigate to your Documents folder within File Explorer.

  3. Right-Click and Select Properties: Right-click on the Documents folder and choose “Properties” from the context menu.

  4. Go to the Location Tab: In the Properties window, click on the “Location” tab.

  5. Click “Move”: You’ll see a “Move” button on the Location tab, click it.

  6. Choose a New Location: A new window will appear where you can browse to the desired location for your Documents folder.

  7. Apply Changes: Once you’ve selected the new location, click “Select Folder” and then “Apply”.

  8. Move Contents (Optional): You may be asked if you want to move the contents of the old Documents folder to the new location. Choose “Yes” or “No” depending on your preference.

  9. Confirm: Click “OK” to finalize the changes.

Finally ended up getting this fixed!

Dear god this has taken such a toll on me, thank you for the support.

If I could ask one more question here, why does it seem that the uploading process is taking a very long time? Could this be any issues related to HLODs?

Hi @DRAW12 ,
Possibly a year ago, we had the biggest outage on the network.
There was real annoyance (over 64 votes). all regions had different failure times.
The retry attempts were doubled, and various other network issues were found and fixed. Of course, I was pushing for the fix.

The reason is simple all broadband modems have about 25%-33% the upload speed compared to download speed. Fortnite upload is relatively quick. compared to waiting for GitHub updates to
appear on the server. Networks are boring until they don’t work!.

Being 8 hours in front of the USA helps a bit

Glad you got it sorted, @DRAW12!

Thank you for your assistance here, @Jimbohalo10

Hello! Wanted to hop back in and say that this error is still happening on occasion, where tonight it has again caused me to be unable to launch private session (Giving the same errors).

More specifically, the progress bar stops at 50% (Uploading project) and very slowly makes progress. From there it will either take a long time to upload or will give me the errors.

Switching from Onedrive seems to have made things better, but I am still having issues here. Could internet speed/project size/specific project components be the issue here? Thanks again!
