- Install process explorer: Process Explorer - Sysinternals | Microsoft Learn
- Right click on the UnrealEditorFortnite-Win64-Shipping.exe file and choose save minidump
- Send us the generated dump.
This should be it, just note that my most recent crash was from accidently maxing my memory on my pc.

Editor got freezed using landscape mode. After clicking landscape in the outliner, I was looking for landscape materials to change. Then it stopped.

Solved the issue for my map, try this on yours - open the outliner tab, delete the two assets that start with water. save and try to sculpt landscape, it worked for me. Have not tried readding water though, I have a desert map and dont really need it. Please let me know if this works for anyone else. Thanks.

I believe it was waterbrush and waterzone - I only had one of each.
If this helps, the bug is probably material based as by causing a material error on your landscape (stopping it from showing) I don’t crash, also it seems that UEFN has been dying when editing materials with it constantly crashing
Hey all, we are still working to resolve this issue!
If you’ve encountered this freeze it’d be great if you can try the following:
1. Pinpointing the Water Component
Load a version of your level where the freeze occurs
- A: Remove only the
WaterZone
Actor. Then, enter Landscape Edit mode and see if the freeze still happens
If the freeze does not happen,
- B: Remove only the
WaterBrushManager
Actor. Check Landscape Edit mode again
2. Repro in a New Level
- Create a new, empty level in your project
- Create a new Landscape actor using the same Landscape Material as your problem level
- Add a River or Lake to this landscape. Enter Landscape Edit mode. Does the freeze still instantly occur here?

I crash with exception access violation usually at 0xffffffffffffffffffff when using any subtractive sculpt tool, Shift-sculpt, flatten, hydro & noise.
I feel like I can get away with single clicks but holding down the mouse button for too long will cause a freeze then close the editor and open the crash reporter.
Removing the Waterzone I have been successfully using the above tools for a while without a crash.
I have an ocean and 2 Water Devices, but no river or lake.
New blank map, no problems

It was hanging for me also, Always had to end task without any reported errors. I changed the View mode from Lit to Unlit, and was able to landscape with that setting. But changing back to Lit and trying to landscape will hang the program. Also every time i open my map I have to rebuild the landscapes (out of date need to be rebuild).
So changing to unlit might be a temporary fix to edit the landscapes.

Do you still see this issue with the release of UEFN 36.00? It would be great to know if your experiencing any Landscape freezes/crashes on levels that were previously causing issues.
If you have removed water (Waterzone/Water Brushes) from your levels it would be helpful to know if any crashes occur once added back in 36.00. For those who purposely added an error in the material - does fixing the material still crash the landscape editor in 36.00?
