Creative matchmaking makes it harder for new maps to grow

Summary

The current Fortnite Creative/UEFN matchmaking system may make it harder for new maps to grow. When players from different regions join the same map, they can be separated into different sessions instead of being placed together in the same lobby. This can cause new maps to have many small sessions with few players instead of one full session.

Matchmaking

Steps to Reproduce

Create or play a Creative/UEFN map with players from different regions. When players join from different locations, the matchmaking system may create separate sessions based on region instead of filling an existing session that still has available player slots.

Expected Result

Players should have more options to join existing sessions with available spaces, especially when the ping difference is acceptable. The matchmaking system should balance both connection quality and keeping lobbies populated, helping new maps get enough players to grow.

Observed Result

Players are often divided into different regional sessions. A player may be placed into a new session with few or no other players instead of joining an existing session with available spots in another region. This can make it much harder for new Creative maps to fill lobbies and build a player base.

Island Code

I think casual maps can be fine with worse pings. Fortnite is no longer just a shooter game. I think it should be an island setting, Region Matching. It can be set to:

  • Strict: Only players from the same regions are allowed in the same lobby.
  • Moderate: Players from the same or a neighboring region are allowed in the same lobby.
  • None: Regions are not checked nor enforced.

The lobby region is decided by the first player that joins.

Anyway, this seems to be a feature request not a bug report.
