creating/using UV maps/normal maps

Hey there,

can anyone give me a short tutorial about UV maps and normal maps?
In my case, I just got simple textures, as they were used in the good old times long ago.

So in UE4 it looks like this:

Just a very shiny and smooth surface. Very unnatural.
How do I get a proper look? Do I have to use both normal maps and UV maps, or just one of these? And how do I do this?
