Creating Static Mesh from Brushes, Meshes, and Text

For the sake of performance, I am attempting to create a static mesh from several components, including: several static meshes, BSPs, and text.

In the past, I’ve had no issue with the creation of static meshes from brushes, but now that I’ve included current static meshes, I have no luck

Is it not possible to combine several static meshes into a single static mesh? If not, is it possible to group static meshes, so that their relative location can be transferred across levels?

I’ve just tested this in 4.3.1 with no issue. All you need to do is select all the brushes you want to combine into a single static mesh then in the details panel select Create Static Mesh. You cannot use text renders with this though only Geometory/BSP shapes.
