Additional Notes

We have not made a private build or published the map yet so I don’t have an island code I can reference. The best guess I have to provide a reference to my project is by grabbing this snippet from my .uproject file

Note that I’ve been able to identify Revision 1137 as the commit that introduced something that causes a cook error. Unfortunately there’s nothing in the logs to help narrow it down, and there are 49 files that were touched on that commit making it very challenging to identify without the cook error itself.

Are you able to share details on what caused the issue now that you’ve confirmed it? Our best guess after spending hours trying to fix our project is that some Prefab became corrupted as a result of moving/deleting a referenced asset in a prefab, and that broke the cook.

FORT-1079993 has been ‘Closed’ as a duplicate of an existing known issue.

@Jimbohalo10 I don’t think this is a duplicate or related to the thread you link. I’ve identified that the cook error is due to a Prefab that somehow got in a corrupted state, though I don’t know how. It’s not due to a lot of assets in our world, this is a brand new project and fairly empty world that is having the issue.

I tried debugging and even pruned all components and entities in the Prefab in question so that the only thing that remained is the root entity and nothing else. If I add that Prefab to the world, the cook fails and crashes the session as usual. As soon as I remove that Prefab from the world, the cook succeeds and I’m able to launch again. Again it was a completely empty Prefab, nothing else.

I rebuilt the prefab and it seems to work fine now, so I’ve stopped using the corrupted one. I kept it in the project in case it would be useful for someone at Epic to investigate. It’s in /Content/FarmTycoon/Prefabs/Prefab_Farm_CORRUPTED if you’d like to take a look (I assume you’re with Epic and have access)

I am an independent developer. My experience with Unreal Engine Standard is over seven years, and cooking failure has always happened.

Great news that you have found the problem and fixed the problem.

The major improvement would be if the project Validate function checked the Prefab as well as assets

So obviously being and indie dev don’t have access to your project. At least Epic will be able to look at this. The Validation function is not UE published source so we cannot look at why Prefab are not being Validated.
