Continuous frame drop during switching of HDR

When I switched HDR on, I first changed the window mode to exclusive full-screen mode and then enabled HDR. However, when I disabled HDR and switched the window mode to windowed or borderless full-screen, the frame rate occasionally dropped sharply. For instance, it dropped from 100 FPS to 40 FPS and could not recover or took a long time to do so.

Many CPU Waits were found in the analysis file. What we wanted to ask is: Does enabling HDR and switching window modes consume graphics memory? Or is the sudden drop in frame rate related to insufficient graphics memory capacity? We noticed that the machines where the issue was reproduced featured relatively small graphics memory capacities, with about 400 megabytes of graphics memory available before reproduction. Moreover, we did not reproduce this issue when using N-series cards. This issue only occurs to A-series cards 6600xt.

Hello there,

I’m unable to reproduce this issue on a Radeon 780M. This GPU is reporting only ~200MiB available VRAM, but no issue is forthcoming.

Would you mind if I ask for an insights trace?

Secondly, would it be possible to test HDR enablement without changing fullscreen modes? I’d like to reduce a variable here. Borderless with HDR should be supported, and performance should be the same assuming both are rendering the same backbuffer size.

Finally, could you provide the panel resolution in Windows, the Windows scaling for that panel, whether AllowHighDPI is enabled in the project settings, and the resolutions and method being used to change resolution?

Best regards,

Chris
