Contact shadows bend mode? What is it?

I see unreal has a “bend” mode for contact shadows.

however it seems enabling it does nothing. Am I missing something? or does it just not work?

I think it might have something to do with bend studio, who developed their own special version of contact shadows:

I would really like to see what this other mode looks like. The default contact shadow mode in ue, is mode 0. It has horrible artefacts when taa is turned off. I was hoping mode 1 might help with this issue. If only I could get it to work.
