Concept reference image planes in level how to remove from post processing effects

I am setting up concept/reference image planes in my level; planes with reference textures on them to refer to. I am trying to set these up so that they are not affected by my post processing volume.

I was using this as a guide on hoe to set up a custom stencil effect.

I tested this successfully with a flat color, but when I use a 2D texture, it does work in masking, but the image is still affected/altered. What am I doing wrong or should I use another approach for reference images?

I’ve read all I can find about using the custom stencil, but am not finding an answer on what I could be doing wrong.
Perhaps it is not meant to be used this way? I’m open to alternative approaches and any help appreciated. Thanks!
