Trying to find documentation on how to make a shadow catching material for live compositing in UE4. For example, I have a camera with a live action image plate that I’ve brought in from Maya and I’m trying to render meshes in from of it in UE4. The problem is getting shadows from these objects to composite with the background image plate.
I’ve seen in the Composure demo when the 3D character walks on the ground it casts a shadow that composites seamlessly into the video footage but I’m having trouble breaking down the example project and getting it working for myself.
Ive tried following both the video and the Composure documentation but I am not able to find how to turn on capturing the shadows.
When using the Composure plugin, I can separate eg foreground and background models (without the shadows), as guided in the quick start guide, but I can’t find how to choose between different Compositing Modes (eg how to switch to “Shadow + Occlusion” mode shown in the video at
Has anyone managed to make that work? I’d appreciate any help.
